Please make sure you are running the latest version: v1.0 - Released 15/February/2010

How can I find out which version I am using?

General Questions

It's as easy as adding a new contact into your phone, literally! The birthdays list within VantagePoint is 100% automated, it looks at all your contacts and builds a list based upon those with a date of birth. So to add a new birthday into the list, simply create a new contact for that person and ensure they have a date of birth - VantagePoint takes care of the rest!

Whilst the most convenient way to install VantagePoint is via the iPhone's or iPod Touch's App Store, we recommend that you install your app from iTunes and then sync the application via a USB cable to your device.

This takes a little longer than a direct download, however it ensures a good download of the software since you are not relying on a wireless transfer method which can be subject to connection quality issues.

You can update VantagePoint via two different methods:

Absolutely! Please if you find that we're missing a holiday in your country or region do not hesitate to contact us and we will do all we can to ensure your updated details are included in our next update. You can submit a holiday here!

Yes, we plan on releasing a series of updates that will be available for free to our customers. These updates will bring new features and correct any issues that slip through our nets. As with all applications available via the iTunes App Store, you'll recieve a notification of an update being available as soon as it is released.

Of course, you can also get all the latest news about updates and responses to your feedback via our blog on this website.

Using VantagePoint

For a breif look at event creation, click the read more icon below to view this quick-start guide.

Deleting an event is an incredibly simply affair. Simply view the event you wish to delete and tap the red icon at the bottom right corner of you iPhone or iPod Touch's screen and confirm.

However, if your event is a part of a repeated chain, when you confirm the deletion every single instance of that event in the chain will be deleted, so please be sure you need the event deleting before you confirm.

As you may already be aware, one of the key features of VantagePoint are it's dedicated duration types which allow for unprecedented detail when it comes to setting events. Read this FAQ for a breif overview.

If you're new to VantagePoint or just want a quick refresh on the basics, you're in the right place! Read on for the essential introduction to VantagePoint!

Feature Requests

VantagePoint was originally designed and developed specifically for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch. However, we are considering developing a web or desktop companion application in order to support syncing in the future.

At the moment we rely on Apple's iTunes backup system, however a dedicated backup feature is something we are planning on adding, we will release more information on such a service closer to the time of release.

Watch this space! We'd love to get VantagePoint released with a build specificly to make use of the iPad and it's amazing 9.7" touch screen!

Solving Problems

Please note that by re-installing VantagePoint touch, all your events on your iPhone/iPod touch will be removed as well if you do not take precautions. Click the read more link to view a quick how-to.

If rebooting your device does not solve the problem, simply delete and re-install the application via a USB cable from iTunes, rather than downloading via a wireless connection. This problem is not associated with VantagePoint specifically, it is infact a problem that many applications suffer from when installed via either a Wi-Fi, 3G or Edge connection.

If you experience crashes with VantagePoint on your iPhone or iPod touch, you can help us solve those issues by sending us your crash reports.

This appears to be a common bug with the iPhone OS. Restart your device twice by powering it off and on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears then drag the slider to power down. Then hold the same button once again for a few seconds to power up your device.

If it still doesn't work and you haven't entered any calendar events yet, try re-installing VantagePoint.
